Nicolas Soames' personal carbon offset
November 2009

Mid Sussex MP Nicholas Soames has just given 4 trees to Lindfield Rural Parish as part of his continuing Carbon offset campaign. Every year he donates trees to various part of his constituency to offset the carbon emissions generated through his travels on Parliamentary business.

He recently planted the latest of these, two flowering cherry trees, in the Remembrance Garden in Walstead Cemetery, Lindfield.  Two “Alder Buckthorne” trees, which attract yellow brimstone butterflies, are  also to be planted on Scaynes Hill Common.  Cllr Sheila Hobbs, Vice Chairman of Lindfield Rural Parish Council, welcomed Mr Soames and thanked him for his kind contribution. Two flowering Cherry Trees were planted at the Cemetery

Mr Soames said “It is my absolute pleasure to plant these trees here in this delightful and peaceful setting”.
