Soames appointed to Defence Advisory Forum David Cameron has appointed Nicholas Soames to represent the Conservative Party on the Defence Advisory Forum, which will draw up the criteria for the Strategic Defence Review to be carried out after the next election. Secretary of State for Defence, Bob Ainsworth MP, announced the appointment in a statement to the House of Commons on the 10th November, following the announcement of the setting up of the Forum in July. The first meeting of the Forum, a group of senior figures with experience in the Armed Services, government, academia, business and the media took place immediately afterwards.
