Conservatives celebrate stunning election victory as East Grinstead sends
two Conservatives to County Hall East Grinstead Conservatives are celebrating after winning two County Council seats in the town at the local elections. Liz Bennett won East Grinstead Meridian division by a majority of 255 votes whereas in East Grinstead South & Ashurst Wood, Lee Quinn secured a 130 vote majority, unseating an incumbent Liberal Democrat councillor. The newly elected County Councillors are looking forward to the task of representing the town and working for local residents at County Hall. Liz Bennett said: "Conservatives fought a positive campaign on the issues affecting East Grinstead such as our opposition to Government plans for 17,100 new houses, the need for economic investment in our town and for improved health services and facilities for young people". "Lee and I are delighted to have been elected to the County Council and will strive to represent the town's interests to the best of our ability, working closely with Councillor Peter Reed and Nicholas Soames MP". Lee Quinn added: "The result in East Grinstead is a clear vote of confidence in the Conservatives and our ability to deliver real results for the town. We will join a strong Conservative team at County Hall that is pledged to delivering improved services and a freeze on council tax with funding from a new Conservative government". Chairman of East Grinstead Conservatives Margaret Belsey said: "I want to congratulate Liz Bennett and Lee Quinn on their stunning victories but also to thank Phillip Coote and Margaret Ball for all their hard work as County Councillors over the past years. Both have served East Grinstead well and will no doubt continue to make strong contributions to the town in the future". Councillor Peter Reed said: "Congratulations to Liz Bennett and Lee Quinn on their election to the County Council. I am looking forward to working with them both to secure the best for East Grinstead. Having seen how hard they work at the District and Town Councils, our town in line for strong representation at County Hall".
